Sailors fancy knotwork bottle

Large old glass bottle wrapped with a cotton cord. Fancywork is a centuries-old form of decorative knot tying. Traditionally sailors would pass the time underway by making gifts for their sweethearts,  family and friends. This is a large old glass bottle measuring 14 inches tall by 4 inch diameter. Slight chip to bottle top. Work appears to be mid 20th century or older.
